9. Dana Krinsky, "War 2006"
As the years pass, I am compelled to understand that violence will never vanish from our lives and that hate seems to overcome any hope for understanding… on the obverse of the medal, one can see from a distance a seemingly naïve nature scene. Apparently, from a closer look, it is understood that this scene consists of guns and weapons, which seems to flourish naturally instead of flowers and trees. I watch the abnormal nature of our life with a great sadness and see a grenade replaces the sun, and a barbed wire stands for the horizon. I know that by destroying the hope for a safe ground we are left with the cracked earth on the reverse.

16. Enrique Moreiro, "Happiness"
This medal illustrates our general lack of competence, as human beings, for achieving and sharing harmony, which keeps us from enjoying our full possibilities. As individuals, as communities and as a species that governs the planet, without even realizing it, we are running out of time. Obverse and reverse, with simple, realistic images, and messages in contrast, serve as a reminder.
