The City Council of Seixal, the International Centre of Contemporary Medals - Seixal, with the support of the Faculdade de Belas Artes, University of Lisbon Volte-Face Contemporary Medal Study and Research Centre, announce the IV Biennial of Contemporary Medal-Seixal.
The goal of the Biennial is to encourage, publicize and disseminate contemporary medallic art.
Two cash prizes will be awarded:
The Main Prize of 4,000 euros
A New Techniques and Materials Prize of 2,500 euros
GUIDELINES
1. All Portuguese and foreign medallists may compete.
1.1. Medallists wishing to participate in the exhibition shall pay an entry fee of 50 euros, either by bank transfer or cheque.

1.2. Receipts will only be issued on request. Please send full details of the institution to whom the receipt should be issued and the respective taxpayer identification number.
1.3. Members of the panel may not compete.
1.4. Each medallist may submit up to a maximum of three pieces (two copies of each work if they have obverse and reverse), produced during or after 2004 and duly identified in the relevant forms
1.5. The competing medals may use any technique and materials, within the following maximum size: 160 x 160 x 160 mm.

3. Medallists shall also send a curriculum vitae of their work in medallic art (maximum 1 A4 page), the completed enrollment form and confirmation of payment of the entry fee. Submissions will be accepted only if point 3 is fully complied with.

5.1. The Panel will award the Main Prize, worth 4,000 euros, and the Innovation Prize (use of techniques and materials), worth 2,500 euros.
5.2. The Panel reserves the right not to award the prizes
5.3. The decision of the panel is final.
6. The prize-winning works will become the property of Seixal City Council / International Centre of Contemporary Medals - Seixal. Seixal City Council reserves the right to publish the prize-winning works as it sees fit, and to use images of the work for publicity purposes.
7. The Panel of the 4th International Biennial of Contemporary Medals - Seixal will meet on November 17, 2005, at 14.00 in the former Mundet Refectory.
8. The works will be exhibited between November 19, 2005 and January 22, 2006, at the former Mundet Refectory.
9. Medallists participating in the 4th International Biennial of Contemporary Medals - Seixal are entitled to receive a certificate of participation and/or prize, as well as one exhibition catalogue.
10. When the exhibition closes, the medals exhibited will be returned to the place specified on the enrollment form. After this time, they will no longer be covered by insurance.
11. Participating medallists may only reclaim their medals at the end of the exhibition.
12. Participants in the 4th International Biennial of Contemporary Medals - Seixal must comply with all the above norms.
13. Situations not governed by these norms will be considered by the organization, whose decision will be final.
